MCMINNVILLE, Ore.
– Freshman Morgan McComish (Salem, Ore.) carded a two-round total of 60-over 204 to finish tied for 29th individually, as Corban's women's golf team competed at the two-day Linfield Invitational this weekend at Michelbrook Country Club.
Playing in only the second collegiate tournament of the season, Corban's women's golfers competed against some high quality NCAA Division III teams.
McComish came out in the opening round and carded an 18-hole score of 33-over 105 that included a birdie on the par 5 18th hole to conclude her opening round.
On Day #2, the first-year Warrior dropped her total score by six strokes thanks to a final round 27-over 99. McComish's two-day total was good enough for a tie for 29th individually, which was third individually among fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference competitors.
Fellow freshman Amber Meeker (St. Helens, Ore.) posted an opening round total of 48-over 130 before returning just over 24 hours later and dropping her total by 17 strokes to a final round 31-over 113.
Meeker's two-day total was good enough for 34th individually, as the first-year player posted her first complete tournament score after having to withdraw at the season-opening Northwest Christian Invitational due to an injury in the opening round.
Team-wise, UC-Santa Cruz took home the team title thanks to a combined two-round total of 90-over 666. Meanwhile, Linfield's Brynn Hurdus won medalist honors thanks to a two-day total of 13-over 157 that included an opening round 79 and second round 78.
Corban's women's team will tee it up again at the George Fox Invitational on Sunday, October 5th, beginning at noon at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course in Newberg.
