Freshman duo competes at Linfield Five-Way Invite

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Freshmen Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.) and Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore,) competed as individuals at the Linfield Five-Way Invitational on Friday at Michelbrook Country Club, as the duo finished in the top 25 among the seven-team field.

Playing against five Northwest Conference schools and fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Northwest Christian, Sherwin and Bars ended the one-round tournament with a 20th and 23rd place showing respectively.

Sherwin carded a team-low 34-over 106 to finish tied for 20th overall with Northwest Christian's Reanna Huston. Meanwhile, Bars turned in an 18-hole score of 40-over 112 to finish 23rd overall.

Sherwin pared the 107-yard 12th hole and then repeated the performance on the 122-yard 17th hole. Bars repeated Sherwin's par efforts on the 12th and 17th hole, while also parring the 134-yard 2nd hole.

Pacific University won the event with a combined score of 60-over 348 to finish 11 strokes better than Invitational-host Linfield. Second-year program George Fox finished third (73-over 361), while cross-town rival Willamette ended a distance fourth with a combined team score of 158-over 446.

On an individual basis, Pacific's Jasmine Ching outlasted teammate Kelly Hartley by a mere stroke for medalist honors with an 11-over 83.

Corban will take a break for two weeks before competing in the second Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament of the season on Monday & Tuesday, October 15th & 16th, at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Vancouver, Washington.
