First-ever CCC tournament concludes opening day

WILDER, Idaho – The first-ever Cascade Collegiate Conference men's and women's golf tournament finished the first two rounds on Monday at River Bend Golf Course, as Corban's men's team is sitting in third place with senior Ben Sisler registering a combined 3-over 147.
In his second round of the day, Sisler rebounded with a 1-over 73 following his two-over 74 in the morning round. The 6-foot-3 senior recorded three bogies to go along with a pair of birdies on the front side, while registering six straight pars on the back nine before suffering a bogey on 16 and rebounding with a birdie on 17 to finish with an even par 36.
Along with Sisler, fellow senior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) turned in the second-best team score for the afternoon round with a 5-over 77 that included an even par 36 on the back nine. Sophomore Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.) evened his morning round with a score of 7-over 79, while junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) came back over the final eighteen of the day with an 11-over 83 to conclude the Warriors' team scoring.
Senior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) turned in a 14-over 86, while freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) played as an individual and carded an 11-over 83 and sits 18th overall.
As a team, the Warriors rebounded with a 24-over 312 after the opening day and sits 19 strokes behind NCAA Division II member Northwest Nazarene. The first day team leader is Concordia with a combined 28-over 604.
Northwest Christian's Justin Ahrens is first day leader with a combined 1-over 145, while Concordia's Tyler Austin sits a mere one stroke back at a combined 2-over 146. Northwest Nazarene's Dale Raybold and Sisler both recorded combined first day totals of 3-over 147 to round of the top four of the tournament.
On the women's side, Corban turned in a three-person score of 113-over 339 to sit fourth at the conclusion of the opening day.
Freshman Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.) recorded the best round of the day for Corban with a 31-over 103, while sophomore Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) recorded her second straight round of 37-over 109. Freshman Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore.) ended the opening day with a 55-over 127.
The first round leader is Concordia's Amy Esmeier with a combined two round total of 23-over 167, while teammate Lindsey Aho sits a mere three strokes back with a combined 26-over 170.
The third and final round will conclude with 18 holes of golf on Tuesday, September 18th, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
