Warriors finish ninth at NAIA Region I Tournament

CHRISTINA LAKES, B.C. – Freshman Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.) fired a team and career-low 3-over 74 in the closing round of the 2007 NAIA Region I Tournament, as Corban's men's golf team concluded with a final round total of 26-over 310 and finished ninth overall at Christina Lakes Golf Course.

Schroeder turned in a trio of double bogeys and three birdies en route to shooting Corban's second lowest score of the two-day, three-round tournament to finish tied for 31st individually with a combined score of 16-over 229.

Along with Schroeder, junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) carded a final round score of 5-over 76 to end the three round event with a 12-over 225 to finish tied for 26th individually.

Meanwhile, junior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) repeated his first round performance with a final round 6-over 77 to conclude the regional tournament tied for 43rd individually with a score of 24-over 237. Sophomore Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) turned in a final round score of 12-over 83 to go along with a pair of opening round scores in the 70s and finished 47th individually with a three round total of 27-over 240. Freshman Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.) concluded his first collegiate season with a final round score of 14-over 85, which placed him 55th individually thanks to a combined three-round total of 46-over 259.

As a team, the Warriors turned a combined three-round total of 79-over 931 thanks to an opening round school-record 21-over 305 before falling off a bit in the second round with a 32-over 316. In the third and final round, Corban redeemed itself with a 26-over 310, but could not overcome fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Albertson as the Coyotes finished two strokes ahead of the Warriors. University of British Columbia received the Region I's automatic berth to the NAIA Championships thanks to a combined team score of 1-under 851, as the Thunderbird turned in a final round score of 5-under 279 to overtake regional runner-up the University of Victoria's combined total of 2-over 854.

Regional medalist, Jade Denill of Victoria, finished with a combined three round total of 7-under 206 to best individual runner-up, Andrew Robb of British Columbia, by two strokes.

Corban concluded its fourth season with a pair of second place finishes, while ending fourth overall at the annual Willamette Invitational among nine schools that included seven NCAA Division III institutions and one junior college.
