Warriors conclude season with 10th place finish at NAIA Regionals

Junior Ben Sisler finished his second regional tournament with a 10-over-par 226 and led the Warriors to a 10th place finish at Christina Lakes Golf Course

CHRISTINA LAKES, B.C. – Junior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) shot a team-best 10-over 226, as Corban’s golf team concluded its season with a 10th place finish and a team total of 94-over 960 at the NAIA Region I Tournament at Christina Lakes Golf Course.

Sisler opened the tournament with a morning round of even-par 72, which was a career-low for the junior from Santiam Christian High School. The second-year player concluded the day by shooting a 3-over 75 on the second eighteen to finish tied for 14th individually and was a mere 7 strokes off the leaders. On the final day, Sisler fell prey to the mighty Christina Lakes G.C. and shot a 7-over 79 to finish the 54-hole event at 10-over-par.

Senior Craig Paulsen (Klamath Falls, Ore.) carted rounds of 2-over 74, 16-over 88, and a team-best round of 3-over 75 to finish at 21-over 237.

Fellow senior Jason Swank (Albany, Ore.) shot 10-over 82, 11-over 83, and 6-over 78 for a final total of 27-over 243.

Sophomore Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) opened with a season-low 11-over 83, only to fall prey to the course with a 16-over 88, but finished the tournament with a 12-over 84 for a three-round total of 41-over 257.

Freshman Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) concluded his first regional tournament with a 54-hole total of 47-over 263. The lone freshman opened the tournament with a 20-over 92, then rebounded slightly with a 15-over 87, and finished with a 12-over 84.

"The team played well," commented first-year head coach Ron Sisler. "I am proud of how each player improved during the season and am looking forward to next season because we have a nice nucleus returning and should compete with the other schools in the region."

As a team, the Warriors ended the 2006 season with an average of 328.67 in nine competitive rounds of golf, as Sisler led the team with an average of 6-over 78.
