SALEM, Ore. - Gladstone High School senior Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) became the first member of the Class of 2011 when he signed a Letter of Intent to play men's golf at Corban for the 2007-08 season, as announced today by second-year head coach Ron Sisler.

Landis, who played high school golf with current Warrior and fellow Gladstone High School alum Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.), comes to Corban following three years as a Gladiator.

After playing baseball during his freshman year for the Gladiators, Landis switched over to golf and was a member of the first-ever state tournament qualifying team out of Gladstone High School during the 2005 season.

The 6-foot senior has helped lead the Gladiators to two straight state tournaments (2005 & 2006), while playing as the top player for Gladstone.

So far this season, Landis tied for medalist honors at the Stayton Invitational at Santiam Golf Course thanks to a score of 9-over 81 and finished 2nd at the Gladstone Invitational at Stone Creek Golf Course with a score of 7-over 79.

“We are excited to add Steve to the roster for next season,” commented Sisler.  “With the players that we have returning from this season’s roster, we should make a nice run at regionals, as well as earning a berth to the national tournament, in 2008.”

The Warriors are in the midst of preparing for the 2007 NAIA Region I Tournament on Monday, April 30th, and Tuesday, May 1st, at Christina Lakes Golf Course in Christina Lakes, British Columbia.
