BLUE RIVER, Ore. – Behind a fifth place finish by senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) and a ninth place finish by freshman Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.), Corban's men's and women's golf teams concluded the final regular season conference tournament in second place Tuesday at Tokatee Golf Course.

Heading into the third and final round, Corban's men's team held a 10-stroke advantage over tournament-host Northwest Christian. Meanwhile, the women's team was sitting in third place, 26 strokes behind the Beacons of Northwest Christian.

The Warrior men overcame some abnormally high scores and held on to second place after today's final round by five strokes over the Beacons. On the other hand, the women's team was awarded second place due to one of Northwest Christian's players having to withdraw after 13 holes due to illness therefore the Beacons were unable to turn in a full team score.

On the men's side, Sisler finished the tournament tied for fifth along with Concordia's Marc Arima, as the duo fired identical three-round totals of 17-over 233. The senior co-captain carded a final round of 6-over 78, which was the lowest score for the Warriors on the day.

Along with Sisler, fellow senior co-captain Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) finished 11th individually after firing a combined three-round total of 25-over 241. Douglas' performance was six strokes better than junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.), who carded a tournament total of 31-over 247 which was good for a 12th place finish individually.

Freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) and senior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) finished in 13th and 14th place respectively, after Landis carded a three-round total of 33-over 249 compared to Greenslade's 38-over 254.

Individually for Corban, sophomore Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.) fired a tournament total of 49-over 265 to finish 17th individually.

As a team, Corban turned in a final round score of 43-over 331 which was third among all four teams on the day. Fortunately for the Warriors, Northwest Christian could not overcome the 10-stroke difference from Round #2 to Round #3 as the host Beacons fired a combined team total of 38-over 326 to finish third.

Concordia, which is ranked 19th in the latest NAIA coaches' poll, took home its fourth straight conference tournament team title thanks to a three-round combined score of 36-over 900. The Cavaliers' Tyler Austin earned his fourth straight conference medalist honor thanks to a two-day total of 1-over 217, which was nine strokes better than Northwest Christian's Justin Ahrens and Concordia's Craig Dehning.

On the women's side, Sherwin fired a team-low 24-over 96 in today's third and final round to capture her fourth straight top ten finish at a conference event. The freshman fired a three-round total of 82-over 298, which was good for ninth individually.

Senior Caylin Bankston (La Grande, Ore.) turned in her first sub-100 round of the tournament today thanks to a 27-over 99. Today's performance placed the senior captain in 10th place overall thanks to a two-day combined total of 91-over 307.

Freshman Emily Stupfel (Salem, Ore.), who carded her first career hole-in-one in the opening round, ended the tournament in 11th place thanks to a combined three-round total of 95-over 311. Meanwhile, sophomore Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) rounded out the Warrior team scoring with a 13th place finish individually thanks to a tournament score of 104-over 320.

Freshman Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore.), who was counted as an individual scoring-wise for Corban, concluded the two-day event with a combined score of 129-over 345 which was good for 16th place individually.

As a team, Corban shot a 372-over 1,236 to trail tournament winner Concordia by 242 strokes. Northwest Christian and The College of Idaho turned in incomplete team scores, as each team had three players listed in the final results as individuals.

Individually, Concordia's Lindsay Aho held on to earn her third conference medal of the season thanks to a three-round combined score of 26-over 242. Aho's performance was three strokes better than fellow teammate Kim Lindow and eight strokes better than NCC's Ashley King, who finished third with a two-day total of 34-over 250. A pair of Concordia teammates -- Amy Esmeier and Lisa Schmidt -- rounded out the top five individually.

Corban's men's team will return to the links on Thursday, April 10th, when they take part in the George Fox Invitational at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Newberg.

Meanwhile, the Warrior women were scheduled to compete at the Linfield Invite on Friday, April 11th, in McMinnville but due to a lack of team participation the tournament had to be cancelled. Therefore, Corban's women's team will hit the links next at the NAIA Region I Tournament scheduled for April 28th & 29th at Couer d'Alene Municipal Golf Course in Couer d'Alene, Idaho.
