Stupfel's hole-in-one highlights first day of CCC #4

BLUE RIVER, Ore. – Freshman Emily Stupfel (Salem, Ore.) aced the 158-yard par 3 eighth hole for her first-ever hole-in-one, as Corban's men's and women's golf teams opened the Cascade Collegiate Conference Qualifier #4 Monday at Tokatee Golf Course.
Playing in the final conference tournament of the regular season, Corban went head-to-head with fellow conference members Concordia, The College of Idaho, and Northwest Christian.
In addition to her ace, Stupfel finished 10th individually after the opening day with a combined two-round total of 63-over 207 that placed her second overall among the Warriors' women golfers.
Along with Stupfel, freshman Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.) paced the Warriors with a 58-over 202 that included a team-low 26-over 98 in the second round.
Senior Caylin Bankston (La Grande, Ore.) and junior Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with scores of 64-over 208 and 71-over 215 respectively.
As a team, Corban shot a 256-over 832 to trail Concordia by 160 strokes and tournament-host Northwest Christian by 26 strokes heading into Tuesday's third and final round.
Freshman Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore.), who was posted as an individual scoring-wise, carded a 91-over 235 to rounded out the Warriors' scoring on the opening day.
Individually, Concordia's Lindsay Aho shot a tournament-low 17-over 161 and leads Northwest Christian's Ashley King by four strokes.
On the men's side, senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) paced the Warriors with an opening day total of 11-over 155 and trails tournament leader, Tyler Austin of Concordia by 10 strokes heading into Tuesday's final round.
Along with Sisler, freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) and junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) posted combined scores of 15-over 159 and 16-over 160 respectively. Meanwhile, senior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) finished the opening day at 18-over 162 to round out the Warriors' scoring and sits 13th overall individually.
As a team, the Warrior men posted a first day total of 60-over 636 after carding back-to-back rounds of 30-over 318 on the opening day.
Team-wise, Concordia is the clubhouse leader after the opening day, as the Cavaliers shot a combined team total of 28-over 604 and leads Corban by 32 strokes heading into the final round of the tournament. Sitting in third place is tournament-host Northwest Christian, who is 10 ten strokes behind the Warriors thanks to a combined two-round team total of 70-over 646. Rounding out the team scoring was The College of Idaho at 160-over 736 led by Ben Coate, who carded a two-round total of 17-over 161.
Concordia's Austin is the leader after Day #1 with a combined two-round total of 1-over 145 that included a tournament-low even-par 72 in the opening round and leads Northwest Christian's Justin Ahrens by a five strokes.
All four teams will conclude the fourth and final conference tournament with the third and final round Tuesday beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Tokatee Golf Course.
