CORNELIUS, Ore. – Junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) tied for medallist honors with a 1-over 73, as Corban's men's golf team went head-to-head with NCAA Division III member Pacific in a dual match at Forest Hills Golf Course on Thursday afternoon.
On a hot and dry day just east of Portland, Corban sent five players out and Pacific used six players in a dual match between the two institutions that went to the host Boxers, 307-316.
Douglas, who tied with Pacific's Taryn Braseth for top honors, paced the Warriors squad with his best round of the spring season. The 6-foot-5 junior transfer from Treasure Valley Community College birdied two-out-of-three par 5s on the back nine en route to posting the match's best score.
Along with Douglas, freshman Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.) turned in a 5-over 77 to tie for fourth overall with Pacific's Sean Hamer.
Junior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) and sophomore Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with a 9-over 81 and 13-over 85 respectively. Freshman Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.), who played as an individual, finished the match with a 16-over 88.
For Pacific, Dan Cashmere finished third overall with a 3-over 75, while Chad Kawazoe and Jordan Fisher rounded out the Boxers' scoring with a pair of 10-over 82s.
Corban will return to the links on Wednesday, April 11th, when it takes part in the Linfield Invitational at Michelbrook Country Club in McMinnville beginning at 1:00 p.m.
