Senior Craig Paulsen carted an 11-over 83 to pace Corban's golf team in a dual-match with Concordia at Diamond Woods Golf Course on Monday.

MONROE, Ore. – In its first dual-match of the season, Corban’s men’s golf team finished 46 shots behind Concordia University on Monday morning at Diamond Golf Course in Monroe, Oregon.

Corban finished the 18-hole event with a combined team score of 62-over 350, while Concordia won the event with a score of 16-over 304.

Senior Craig Paulsen (Klamath Falls, Ore.) paced the Warriors with a team-leading 11-over 83, which was good for a 6th place finish individually.  Paulsen began the day with an opening three-over 39 that included back-to-back pars on the 8th and 9th holes.  Through the first nine holes, Paulsen was three strokes off the lead held by Concordia’s Tyler Austin and Stephen Connor.

“I was playing really well through the front nine,” commented Paulsen.  “Over the final nine holes, I had four three putts that did not help.  Overall, I have pleased with the way that I played.”

Junior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) and senior Jason Swank (Albany, Ore.) shot a 15-over 87 and a 17-over 89 respectively, while freshman Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) recorded a 19-over 91.  Sophomores Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) and Chad Emmert (Sweet Home, Ore.) rounded out the Corban golfers each shooting round of 20-over 92.  Neither player’s scores were accounted for in the team total.

Concordia was led by Matt Guthrie, who earned medalist honors, with a 1-over 73.  Connor finished the day with a 3-over 75, while Austin and Marc Arima each carted scores of 6-over 78.  Craig Dehning finished the round with a 9-over 81 to round out the Cavalier scoring.

Playing individually for Concordia were Chris Slaton (8-over 80), A.J. Lightheart (10-over 82), Dan Scobie (12-over 84), and Brad Bachman (14-over 86).

Corban will hit the links again on Monday, April 10th, when they host the Corban Invitational beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Mallard Creek Golf Course in Lebanon, Oregon.
