Sherwin in top 10 at CCC #3 qualifier tournament

MONROE, Ore. – Freshman Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.) registered and opening day total of 64-over 208 to lead Corban's women's golf team after the first day of the Cascade Collegiate Conference #3 Qualifier tournament Monday at Diamond Woods Golf Course.

Playing its third conference tournament of the season, the Warriors registered an opening day total of 320-over 896 and sits in third place behind Concordia and Northwest Christian.

Sherwin, who is currently 10th individually, opened the day with a team-tying low score of 26-over 98. Unfortunately, the afternoon round was not as kind as Sherwin fired a 38-over 110 to finish with a two-round total of 64-over 208.

Along with Sherwin, freshman Emily Stupfel (Salem, Ore.) tied for the Warriors' low round of the day thanks to an opening round of 26-over 98. In the afternoon round, Stupfel faltered to a 45-over 117 for a opening day total of 71-over 215.

Senior Caylin Bankston (La Grande, Ore.) and freshman Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore.) rounded out Corban's scoring with two-round totals of 73-over 217 and 112-over 256 respectively.

Overall, Concordia University is the clubhouse leader after the opening day thanks to a combined two-round team total of 74-over 650. Meanwhile, Northwest Christian sits 155 strokes back at 229-over 805 which is 91 strokes better than the Warriors.

Individually, Concordia's Kim Lindow is the leader after the opening day thanks to a two-round total of 13-over 157. Meanwhile, fellow Cavalier teammate Lindsay Aho is in second place thanks to a combined score of 18-over 162 which is three strokes better than Concordia's Kim Tilton. Northwest Christian's Ashley King (22-over 166) and Concordia's Amy Esmeier (28-over 172) round out the top five after the opening two rounds.

Corban will return to the links on Tuesday, March 25th, for the final round of the third conference qualifier of the season at Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe beginning at 8:00 a.m.
