SALEM, Ore. – In its first match of the spring season, Corban’s men’s golf team took part in the 36-hole Willamette Invitational on Monday morning at Creekside Golf Course in Salem, Oregon, and finished 5th overall.

Junior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) paced the Warriors with a team-leading 14-over 158, which was good for an 8th place tie individually.  Sisler began the day on the back nine and opened with a four-over 40 before turning things around with a two-over 38 on the front nine for a morning total of six-over 78.  On his second eighteen, the third year player shot a 12-over 46 before rebounding for his best nine of the season – a two-under 34 – for the final 36 hole total of 158.

Seniors Craig Paulsen (Klamath Falls, Ore.) and Jason Swank (Albany, Ore.) shot an 18-over 162 and a 25-over 169 respectively.  Freshman Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) recorded a 36-over 180, as the first-year player began his day with a morning round of 22-over 94 and rebounded with a season-low 14-over 86.

Sophomores Chad Emmert (Sweet Home, Ore.) and Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) rounded out the Corban scoring with a 68-over 212 and a score that was disqualified due to a ruling judgment on the 18th hole of the morning round.  Neither player’s scores were accounted for in the team total.

Willamette won the invitational with a team-total of 43-over 619, while Puget Sound (621), Pacific Lutheran (628), Pacific (664), Corban (669), Whitman (677), and Lewis & Clark (682) round out the finishers.

Willamette’s Martin Kraal won medalist honors with a 4-over 148, which was three strokes better than Brian Misterek and C.J. Stauffer of Pacific Lutheran.

Corban will hit the links again on Monday, April 3rd, when they host the Corban Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe, Oregon.
