Lady golfers conclude Willamette Invite in 7th place

WOODBURN, Ore. – Junior Caylin Goss (La Grande, Ore.) paced the Warriors with a two-day showing of 63-over 205, as Corban's women's golf team completed its first-ever weekend tournament with a 7th place showing at the Willamette Invitational on Sunday.
Playing in its first-ever two-day event and playing 36 holes at the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) Golf Course, Corban carded a combined 166-over 454 after the opening round before coming home with a five stroke improvement in the final round thanks to a combined 161-over 449 for a two-day total of 320-over 903.
Goss turned in a pair of eighteen holes scores equaling a 29-over 101 in Round 1 and a 32-over 104 to complete the event. Along with Goss, senior Hallie Hofferd (Bend, Ore.) and freshman Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) were separated by a mere stroke, as Hofferd finished the tournament with a combined score of 83-over 227 and Weldon carded a combined 84-over 228.
Freshman Jennifer Talbert (Roseburg, Ore.) had the best improvement from Round 1 to 2, as the Sutherlin HS graduate brought her score down 13 shots. Talbert opened the event with a 56-over 128 before turning in an 18-hole score of 41-over 113 in the closing round.
Corban finished ahead of both NCAA Division III members George Fox and Lewis & Clark, while continuing to improve on a round-by-round basis.
Corban will return to the links on Tuesday, April 3rd, when it takes part in a dual match with NCAA Division III member Pacific (Ore.) at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in North Plains. The match's start time is still to be determined.
