Sisler paces Warriors to fourth at Pacific Invitational

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) fired a four-over 76 in the opening round of the Pacific Invitational and sits in sixth place individually, as Corban's men's golf team opened its 2008 season in fourth place after Day #1 Sunday at Meriweather National Golf Course.
Playing for the first time this spring, the Warriors tackled the 6,719-yard course with a combined team total of 33-over 321 and sits a mere seven strokes back of Central Oregon Community College and NCAA Division III member Pacific.
Along with Sisler's opening round performance, senior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) and freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) carded identical scores of eight-over 80 to account for three of the Warriors' four counting scores.
Junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) accounted for Corban's other score, as the third-year player finished the day with a 13-over 85.
Senior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) and sophomore Tyler Dean (Klamath Falls, Ore.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with Day One totals of 13-over 85 and 28-over 100 respectively.
In the overall team totals, NCAA Division III member Linfield leads after the opening round with a combined team total of 10-over 298 with Central Oregon and tournament-host Pacific sitting 16 strokes back in second place with identical team totals of 26-over 314.
Individually, Linfield's Joel Rychard is the leader after Day #1 after carding a two-under 70 which is one stroke better than Pacific's Max Bonk. Whitman's Brian Barton (1-over 73), Central Oregon's Christian Green (2-over 74), and Linfield's Tyler Nelson (3-over-75) round out the top five scorers with Sisler sitting a mere six strokes off the lead heading into Monday's final round.
Corban will conclude its play at the Pacific Invitational on Monday, March 10th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Ghost Creek Golf Course in North Plains.
