Corban golf teams take 3rd place at Tri-Cities Four-way

PASCO, Wash. – Freshman Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.) led Corban's men's golf team with a 4-over 76 and junior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) shot a 6-over 78 on Saturday, as both the men's and women's golf teams opened their spring schedule with third place finishes at the Tri-Cities Four-way.
With a full squad, the Warriors headed north to open the 2007 season with fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member Concordia, NCAA Division III member Whitworth, and NCAA Division III member Whitman competing in the Four-way.
On the men's side, Concordia took home the trophy with a combined team score of 21-over 309, as the Cavaliers' Marc Arima earned medallist honors with a 3-under 69. Tournament-host Whitworth took 2nd place with a combined team score of 27-over 315, while the Warriors came in third with a season-low 31-over 319.
Among the twenty-nine competitors, Schroeder finished 3rd overall and Greenslade took 4th in the tournament. Meanwhile, sophomore Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) turned in a season-opening 9-over 81, junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) finished the round with a 12-over 84, and freshman Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.) carted an identical 12-over 84.
In the women's field, Concordia captured the team title with a combined score of 54-over 342, as the Cavaliers' Kim Lindow recorded the low round of the day with a 9-over 81. Tournament-host Whitworth finished seven shots behind Concordia with a combined team score of 61-over 349, while the Warriors turned in their first-ever team total of 155-over 443 to finish third.
Junior Caylin Goss (La Grande, Ore.) lead the Warriors with a 34-over 106, while senior Hallie Hofferd (Bend, Ore.), freshman Jennifer Talbert (Roseburg, Ore.), and freshman Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) concluded their first official collegiate spring tournament with scores of 36-over 108, 42-over 114, and 43-over 115 respectively.
Corban continues its spring season with a dual match against Concordia on Wednesday, March 14th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Golf Club.
