SALEM, Ore. – Corban College junior Scott Marshall (Bend, Ore.) has been named Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA Region I Player of the Week, and the Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week. Marshall’s triple honors were announced today by CCC Sports Information Director Sam Ghrist and the Statesman Journal.
Marshall (pictured right), who came to Corban from Redmond High School, appeared in three games last week and scored 6 goals in leading the Warriors to 2 straight wins.
Against Whitman, Corban found themselves down 2-0 before Marshall put the Warriors on his back and scored 4 unanswered goals to lead the Warriors to a 4-3 victory. The first two goals came unassisted, while the third goal came via a penalty kick after Marshall was fouled by Whitman’s keeper inside the penalty box following an attempted shot on goal. Marshall’s fourth and final goal of the day came via an assist from freshman Eric Branch (Keizer, Ore.). Marshall’s four goals was a season-high for the Warriors and an individual career-high for the 5-foot, 11-inch junior.
In Corban’s final game of the week against cross town rival Willamette, Marshall scored two goals in leading the Warriors to a 5-4 victory over the Bearcats. Marshall began the scoring in the 2nd minute off an assist from Branch. Branch took the ball down the right side and cross it into a cutting Marshall, who proceeded to tap the ball into the back of the net for his 7th goal of the season. Twenty-five minutes later, Marshall scored his second goal of the game (8th of the season) on an assist from sophomore Caleb Louvier (SeaTac, Wash.) giving Corban the lead for good.
So far this season, Marshall has scored 8 goals and handed out 1 assist for a total of 17 points. In his career, Marshall has scored 40 goals, handed out 19 assists, and totaled 99 points.
