SALEM, Ore. – Corban College sophomore Caleb Louvier (SeaTac, Wash.) has been named Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA Region I Player of the Week, as announced today by CCC and NAIA Region I Sports Information Director Sam Ghrist.

Louvier, who came to Corban from Seattle Christian High School, appeared in two games last week and scored 4 goals.

Against The Evergreen State College, Corban could not muster much offense in a 4-0 loss to the Geoducks.  Louvier had the best scoring opportunity of the day for the Warriors when he was awarded a penalty kick in the 84th minute, but could not convert thanks to a diving save by Evergreen’s goalkeeper.

In Corban’s final game of the week against Northwest, Louvier put the Warriors on his back and carried them to victory, scoring a season and career-high 4 goals in Corban’s 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Eagles.  Louvier got the scoring started 91 seconds into the game when he took a one-two combo pass from freshman Tyler Grove (North Marion, Ore.) and sophomore Jordan Rowland (Kirkland, Wash.).  Following two unanswered Eagle goals, Louvier knotted the game at 2-apiece when he hooked up with senior Michael Otto (Vianopolis, Brazil) in the 48th minute.  Louvier recorded just the second hat trick this season in the 58th minute when he rifled a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box into the upper right hand corner of the goal.  The 5-foot-10 sophomore capped the scoring with the game-winning goal in the 84th minute on a one-two combo pass from Rowland and freshman Fernando Karczeski (Curitiba, Brazil).

So far this season, Louvier has scored 6 goals and handed out 3 assists for a total of 15 points.  In his brief two-year career, Louvier has scored 15 goals, handed out 9 assists, and totaled 39 points.  Currently, Louvier sits a mere 3 goals, 8 assists, and 12 points outside of the Warriors’ career top-10 list in each category.
