Corban Classic to feature 3 of the NAIA’s top 30 teams

SALEM, Ore. – Corban College women’s soccer program will host the 1st Annual Corban Classic on Friday and Saturday, September 2nd and 3rd, at Warrior Field in Salem, Oregon.
The Corban Classic will feature three of the top ranked women’s soccer programs in the nation. The teams competing will be Biola (NAIA’s No. 6-ranked), Concordia-Portland (NAIA’s No. 7-ranked), Trinity International (NAIA’s No. 30-ranked), and classic-host Corban.
Biola, led by 5th year head coach Michael Silzer, is the defending Golden State Athletic Conference champions and are just coming off a year in which they recorded an overall record of 16-2-1 (10-1 GSAC), won their 1st conference championship, and advanced to the national tournament for the first time in school history. Biola returns 16 letter winners (6 starters), including NAIA All-American and All-GSAC members Krystal McKay and Hilary Dunham.
Concordia-Portland, led by 9th year head coach Grant Landy, is the defending Cascade Conference North Division champions and Cascade Conference post-season tournament winners. The Cavaliers are coming off a year in which they recorded an overall record of 18-3-4 (10-0-1 CCC), won their fifth straight conference title, and advanced to the NAIA national championship game. Concordia-Portland returns 11 letter winners (8 starters), including NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Jennifer Hughes and the NAIA National Tournament’s Top Defensive Player Lela Mansfield.
Trinity International, led by 8th year head coach and 2004 NCCAA National Coach of the Year Patrick Gilliam, is the defending National Christian College Athletic Association national champions. The Lady Trojans are coming off a season in which they recorded an overall record of 18-8 (8-1 CCAC) and return 13 letter winners, including NCCAA All-Tournament members Allison Budden, Kelly Campbell, and Ashleigh Dellos.
Corban, led by 10th year head coach Marty Ziesemer, is the defending Cascade Conference South Division champions and are coming off a year in which they recorded an overall record of 14-7-1 (10-1-1 CCC). The Warriors return 17 letter winners (10 starters), including All-Conference members Kim Mendenhall, Sarah Officer, and Megan Waunch.
