SALEM, Ore. – Corban College sophomore Jordan Emery (Salem, Ore.) and senior Rachel Hiatt (Sublimity, Ore.) have been named Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA Region I Pitchers of the Week respectively, as announced today by the conference and regional office.

Emery made his lone appearance in the night cap against Concordia on Wednesday and pitched a complete game 4-hit shutout in leading the Warriors to an 11-0 victory.  The 6-foot-3 right-hander struck out 7 Cavalier batters en route to picking up his team-leading 4th victory of the season.  A graduate of North Salem High School, Emery faced five batters over the minimum, as he did not walk anyone and held Concordia’s bats at bay throughout the game.

Emery currently leads the team in wins (4), complete games (4), games started (8), innings pitched (56.1), strikeouts (40), and opponent’s batting average (.252).

Hiatt pitched Corban’s softball team to its lone win of the week – a 7-3 victory over Southern Oregon – thanks to a complete game 6-hitter on Friday.  The 5-foot-11 right-hander allowed 3 runs (1 earned) and struck out 1 Raider hitter.  A graduate of Stayton High School, Hiatt registered her team-best 4th win of the season, including her second straight victory over Southern Oregon, and 4th complete game in the opener.

In the night cap, Hiatt made her 1st relief appearance in conference action, pitching 2 2/3 innings and allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits.

Hiatt leads the team in wins (4), appearances (18), games started (15), complete games (11), and innings pitched (93.1).

This is the first time this season that student-athletes from Corban have received these pitching honors.
