SALEM, Ore. - Six Warrior seniors were honored in between Saturday's double header with the NAIA's No. 1-ranked Lewis-Clark State, but Corban's baseball team dropped both games, 4-1 & 9-0, at Warrior Field on the final home weekend of the regular season.

Seniors Kyle Myers (Canyon City, Ore.), Brett Timmerman (Medford, Ore.), Ryan Heil (Medford, Ore.), Jeremy Frantz (Medford, Ore.), Scott Fitchett (Sandpoint, Idaho), and Zeke Clayton (Myrtle Creek, Ore.) concluded their stellar careers on Warrior Field today. Frantz was head of the class having turned in a 2-for-4 performance at the plate in the night cap.

In game one, the Warriors scored their lone run and tied the game at one run each in the third inning when junior Scott Flux (Salem, Ore.) hit a single down the right field line, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by junior Doug Gausepohl (Murrieta, Calif.), advanced to third on a single by junior Jamie McGraw (Gaston, Ore.), and was driven home by sophomore Craig Spicer (Vancouver, Wash.).

Junior Jordan Emery (Salem, Ore.) pitched the complete 7.0 innings in the opener for Corban, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, and striking out one L-C State batter. Emery also put Lewis-Clark State's Beau Mills' 24-game hitting streak to a halt after facing him three times. LCSC's Matt Fitts also pitched the complete 7.0 innings, gave up one run (earned) on five hits, and had six strikeouts.

Behind the outstanding pitching of Fitchett, the locals kept the Idaho-natives scoreless for the first four innings of the second stanza. Despite giving up a single run in the fifth inning, Corban continued to apply pressure on the NAIA's No. 1-ranked squad by earning a hit from freshman Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.) in the bottom of the same inning.

Fitchett stayed on top the mound for the two following innings, throwing 7.0 innings while allowing four runs (all earned) on six hits and fanning two L-C State players at the plate. He was relieved by Clayton who took control for a single inning before handing the ball over to sophomore Brandon Wolters (Gresham, Ore.). Freshman Eric Bolden (Kent, Wash.) concluded the game for the host's pitching staff after earning a strikeout.

Both Frantz and McGraw had two hits each on the day to lead Corban in the batter's box. Meanwhile, LCSC was led by Jessie Mier's 3-for-7 combined performance and two home runs. Mills went 2-for-6 on the day with two home runs in the second outing.

The visitors' Chris Schwinden pitched for five innings, allowed two hits, and struck out five batters in earning the win for the second game. Brian Parker took the mound for two innings for L-C State, gave up one hit, and earned four strikeouts, Will Morgan concluded the game for LCSC, pitching two innings, giving up one hit, and striking out two batters.

The two losses knock Corban's overall record down to 12-31-1, while Lewis-Clark State progresses its overall 44-3 record. The Warriors of Corban College head north to Portland for a pair of contests with Concordia University next Friday, May 4th, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
