VANCOUVER, B.C. – Senior Ryan Heil (Medford, Ore.) collected a hit in each of the Warriors' regional games with British Columbia, but it was not enough as Corban's baseball team dropped an afternoon double header, 8-0 & 8-1, to the Thunderbirds on Saturday at Nat Bailey Stadium.

After having to push this weekend's three-game series back one day from the originally scheduled Friday-Saturday to Saturday-Sunday due to rain and field conditions, Corban never seemed to wake up this afternoon as the Warriors combined for eight hits over the two regional games.

In the opener, Corban was held to a mere two hits as sophomore Craig Spicer (Vancouver, Wash.) registered the Warriors' first hit of the afternoon via a single to shortstop in the first inning. Following Spicer's infield single, the visiting Warriors were held hitless until the fourth inning when Heil singled up the middle for Corban's final hit of the opening game.

Sophomore starter Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) threw the first 3.0 innings, allowing 7 runs (all earned) on 7 hits with a game-high 4 K's before handing the ball over to sophomore reliever Brandon Wolters (Gresham, Ore.) for the final three innings. Wolters, who was making his 11th relief appearance of the season, allowed a mere earned run on two hits with one strikeout.

British Columbia was led by Jon Syrnyk and Nic Lendoy, who each had three hits including three triples by Syrnyk and a pair of doubles by Lendvoy.

In the night cap, Corban tallied its first run of the twin bill in the third inning when junior Scott Flux (Salem, Ore.) led off the inning with a single through the right side before advancing to second on a ground out by fellow junior Justin Trammell (Salem, Ore.). The very next batter -- junior Jamie McGraw (Gaston, Ore.) -- singled up the middle, allowing Flux to score from second for the Warriors' lone run of the afternoon.

Senior Scott Fitchett (Sandpoint, Idaho) went the distance for Corban, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) on 12 hits with a game-high 4 strikeouts. Making only his fourth start of the season, the senior right-hander turned in the Warriors' fourth complete game of the season and first since junior Jordan Emery (Salem, Ore.) went the distance in a 4-0 victory over Oregon Tech on March 17th.

For the host Thunderbirds, Fletcher Vynne led UBC's bat attack thanks to a 3-for-4 performance with a game-high 6 RBIs.

In the afternoon twin bill, Heil was the only Warrior to record more than one combined hit, while six other Corban players -- Spicer, McGraw, senior Jeremy Frantz (Medford, Ore.), freshman Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.), Flux, and Trammell -- registered a hit apiece in the double header.

With the losses, Corban is now 10-24-1 overall, 4-15 in Region I action. Meanwhile, British Columbia improves to 13-11 on the season, 11-4 in Region I action. These same two teams will close out the three-game series tomorrow -- Sunday, April 15th -- with a single nine-inning game beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, B.C.
