SALEM, Ore. – Senior Ryan Heil (Medford, Ore.), sophomore Craig Spicer (Vancouver, Wash.), and senior Jeremy Frantz (Medford, Ore.) each recorded a pair of hits, as Corban's baseball team fell in a non-conference midweek game to NCAA Division III member George Fox, 17-4, on Tuesday at Warrior Field.

After seeing the Bruins put three runs on the board, the Warriors opened their half of the first inning with three straight singles by junior Jamie McGraw (Gaston, Ore.), Heil, and Spicer. Spicer drove in Corban's first run with a base knock to center field that scored McGraw from second before senior Brett Timmerman (Medford, Ore.) brought home the Warriors' final run of the frame via a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Heil.

Trailing by three runs (5-2) heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, Corban tacked a run on the board when Frantz scored on a error by George Fox's left fielder. One batter later, junior Justin Trammell (Salem, Ore.) brought home freshman Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.) with a ground out to short for the Warriors' second run of the inning and final of the day.

Seven Corban pitchers combined to throw the complete nine innings, allowing 17 runs (16 earned) on 22 hits. Junior Jordan Emery (Salem, Ore.) started the game for Corban and went the opening inning before turning the ball over the sophomore Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) for the second and third inning. Braun in turn handed the ball over to senior Zeke Clayton (Myrtle Creek, Ore.) for an inning before Clayton handed the ball over to junior Scott Flux (Salem, Ore.) for 1.1 innings of work. After getting a little roughed up, first-year head coach Nate Mayben took the ball from Flux and handed it to freshman Eric Fry (Gold Beach, Ore.) for the final two outs of the sixth inning. Sophomore Eric Clifford (Fallon, Nev.) and senior Scott Fitchett (Sandpoint, Idaho) concluded the Corban pitchers, as the duo threw the final three innings and allowed a mere earned run on three hits.

For George Fox, five players -- Drew Johnson, Patrick Bailey, Daniel Downs, Matt Wyckoff, and Josh Burch -- recorded three hits each, while eight out of the nine starters recorded at least one hit off Warrior pitching for the Bruins. On the mound, Chris Albrecht picked up the win for GFU as he went the first three innings, allowing 2 runs (all earned) on 5 hits with a game-high tying three strikeouts before turning the ball over to a quintet of pitchers that combined to throw the final six inning and allowed a pair if runs (both earned) on seven hits.

With the loss, Corban is now 10-22-1 overall, while George Fox improves to 22-5 on the season. The Warriors will return to the field on Friday, April 13th, when they return to Region I play against the University of British Columbia beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, B.C.
