SALEM, Ore. – Senior Jeremy Frantz (Medford, Ore.) went 3-for-4 at the plate and three different players recorded a RBI, as Corban's baseball team began a three-game series with a loss, 11-4, to the NAIA's No. 25-ranked Coyotes of Albertson on Friday at Warrior Field.

After falling behind 1-0, Corban put a single run on the board in the second inning when senior Brett Timmerman (Medford, Ore.) opened the stanza with a single through the left side before Frantz doubled to deep right field. Freshman Josh Warner (Independence, Ore.) then drove Timmerman home with a sacrifice fly to center field for the Warriors' first run of the game.

After holding the Coyotes scoreless in the third inning, the Warriors tallied two runs via two hits to take the lead by a pair of runs (3-1). Senior Ryan Heil (Medford, Ore.) singled to left field, which allowed sophomore pinch runner Rondie Taylor (Clackamas, Ore.) to score from second following a failed pick off by the 'Yotes. The very next batter -- sophomore Craig Spicer (Vancouver, Wash.) -- brought Heil home with a double down the right field line for the Warriors' final tally of the inning.

Albertson wasted no time in re-taking the lead, as the visiting Coyotes tacked on three runs in the top of the fourth inning and then held Corban scoreless for three straight frames. Meanwhile, Albertson could only muster a single run in the top of the seventh inning before the Warriors crawled back with a run in their half of the stanza.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Corban struck for a single run when junior Scott Flux (Salem, Ore.) opened the frame with a single to left field and then advanced to third on a single by senior pinch hitter Kyle Myers (Canyon City, Ore.). Flux then scored when Myers got caught in a pickle that resulted in a 2-4-3 caught stealing for the fleet-footed fourth-year player.

The Coyotes scored three runs in both the eighth and ninth inning on a combined six hits for the final difference of seven runs.

On the afternoon, Frantz led all Warriors with his 3-for-4 performance, while Heil, Warner, and Spicer each recorded a RBI. Sophomore Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) started on the hill for Corban and went 6.2 innings, allowing 5-runs (4 earned) on 9 hits with a pair of strikeouts. A trio of relievers -- senior Zeke Clayton (Myrtle Creek, Ore.), sophomore Eric Clifford (Fallon, Nev.), and senior Scott Fitchett (Sandpoint, Idaho) -- combined to throw an inning each over the final three innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on six hits with a combined three strikeouts.

For Albertson, Richie Snider and Camron Hammond each went 3-for-4 with a combined three runs scored and three runs batted in. Meanwhile, six other Coyotes registered at least one hit off Warrior pitching with Luke Howarth, Adam Roach, and Casey Oliver recording a pair of hits each. The 'Yotes' Jason Roach started the game and went the first eight innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on ten hits with a game-high 12 strikeouts before handing the ball over to Joey Zubizarreta for the final inning.

With the loss, Corban falls to 10-19-1 overall, 4-11 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Albertson improves to 19-10 on the season, 9-7 in CCC play. These same two teams will meet on Saturday, April 7th, in a conference double-header beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Warrior Field.
