Family Studies
The couple smiles and warmly shakes your hand as they leave your office. It seems like only yesterday when they first came to see you. Their lives weighed down by problems that seemed too large to solve. But during the past few months you've helped them pull together, to see that God has a plan and direction for their lives.
You've always enjoyed working with people and have already been involved in assisting others with various life situations. You just need to finish your formal training. Now it's a reality. All because you are taking that first step in pursuing your dream.
The Family Studies program will assist you in working with families, or serve as the foundational studies for graduate school.
About the Program
Family Studies is an applied, interdisciplinary approach to the study of family dynamics and the relationships between families and the larger society. This 64-week one-night-per-week program, is styled for Christian adults with work experience and approximately 60 semester hours of college, who desire a biblically-based education.
The program includes 44 credit hours of course work, group interaction, social research and an internship experience. You may also earn up to 30 credits through your personal portfolio. Classroom instruction and field supervision are facilitated by experienced professionals in psychology, sociology, social work and education. They are highly qualified and currently practicing in their chosen field.
Upon completion of the program you'll earn a bachelor of science degree in Psychology: Family Studies. If you have two years of college level foreign language you will earn a bachelor of arts degree.
Family Studies graduates often seek careers in lay ministries, self-employment and public and private social service agencies. Many go on to graduate school.
If you would like assistance in planning for degree completion, please contact us. We will be glad to help you with further information.
