The mission of the music faculty is to help Christian students develop the biblical values, musical skills, and professional knowledge they need to serve our world effectively, representing Christ in life, ministry, and service. Corban music students can expect to be challenged and prepared to participate in the world of music.
For All Musicians
Students of every major can benefit from the opportunities provided through the music department. Music is a powerful medium in the worship of God, and we are committed to providing our musicians with every opportunity to be involved in musical ensembles that worship our Lord. Whether you are planning a career in music or would simply like to grow as a musician by participating in an ensemble or class, there is a place for you in our program.
For the Music Major
Our music graduates are equipped with professional skills and understanding of music theory, literature, history, and performance. They build up their musical abilities and explore ways to express their Christian faith through music. As students develop their creativity and aesthetic appreciation, they are led to consider the importance and role of beauty in the music-making process. All of this growth prepares graduates for effective service in God’s world.
Our music graduates pursue careers such as music educators, church worship leaders, composers, music therapists, performers, scholars, and missionaries. The music curriculum begins with a common core of courses for all music majors, and then specialized coursework meets each student’s need and interest. Students gain practical experience through performances, internships, classroom field experiences, and other projects.
