Computer Science & Information Systems

Computer Science Program

The Computer Science program prepares students with the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in today's high tech world. The program emphasizes foundational concepts and the application of technological solutions within the context of a Biblical worldview. Through studying foundational concepts and learning practical skills, students are prepared to enter the high tech workforce in fields ranging from software engineering to database and network administration.

Both the CS and IS programs are technology focused programs where you will learn the key concepts in the science of computing. The CS degree focuses more on the lower level concepts such as programming, architecture and alogorithmic design. In addition, the CS program has a strong math component. The IS degree focuses more on higher level concepts centered on using technology to solve problems for businesses. These concepts include such things as the competitive advantage of information, electronic commerce models and decision support frameworks. The IS program has a strong business component.

Where we've been and where we're going...
The Computer Science program was started in 1998 and continues to offer courses based on the Computing Curricula published jointly by the ACM and IEEE, and the Model IS Curriculum published jointly by the ACM, AIS and AITP. For current events see the Computer Science website at cs.corban.edu.
